Ken Bates is a stunt coordinator and performer. Bates was a stunt performer on Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. Bates performed the El Capitan high fall, doubling for William Shatner. At the time, it was the highest fall performed by a stuntman wearing a descender rig in the United States. Bates received a special credit in the completed movie as a result - "Highest Descender Fall Recorded in the United States".
