Kojiro Vance

Kojiro Vance was the illusory master of the USS Kobayashi Maru, used in the Starfleet Academy training scenario.

In the scenario, Vance's ship struck a gravitic mine in the Klingon neutral zone, causing the ship to lose power. The explosion from the mine penetrated the ship's hull, causing many casualties and necessitating the sending of a distress call. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)

Vance was not referred to in dialog nor did he appear on-screen. His name was seen in the data display on the viewscreen of the training room. It is not known whether or not Vance was the one who made the distress call or whether he was one of the casualties of the mine.
