Captain Krasnovsky was a male Human Starfleet officer who lived during the mid-23rd century. In 2267, this decorated officer was a sciences division starship captain.

That same year, he served on the board conducting the general court martial of a fellow captain, James T. Kirk, when he was accused of perjury and culpable negligence in the apparent death of Lieutenant Commander Benjamin Finney.

During the trial sequence aboard the Enterprise, he voiced concerns about potential orbital decay after the impulse engines aboard ship had been shut down. Kirk assured him that he planned on the trial to be over long before that would happen. (TOS: "Court Martial")

Background information[]

Krasnovsky was played by actor Bart Conrad. He is the only board member other than Stone to have spoken.

This character's name was spelled "Krasnowsky" in the script for "Court Martial" and in the Star Trek Encyclopedia (4th ed., vol. 1, p. 442), but is spelled "Krasnovsky" in the episode's end credits sequence.

In the final draft and revised final draft of the "Court Martial" script, he was referred to, in the stage directions, as "a bull-necked Slav." He was to have been introduced, in dialogue from the final draft script, as a "Star Command Captain", though this was changed to "Star Ship Captain" in the revised final draft. Later in both drafts of the teleplay, he was to have verbally named the only unaccounted-for heartbeat on the Enterprise as being that of Officer Finney, though Stone instead makes this pronouncement in the final version of the episode.

Until the debut of an unidentified female admiral in the PIC Season 2 episode "The Star Gazer", Krasnovky was the highest-ranking officer of his division seen in uniform.
