Lena Banks is an actress who was a regular background performer throughout the last three seasons of Star Trek: The Next Generation. In addition, she appeared in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, although most of her part was cut from the final aired version. As a background actress she received no on-screen credit for all of her appearances. Banks was on the set the day Gene Roddenberry passed away, filming scenes for the The Next Generation episode "Hero Worship".

Banks appeared in several commercials and stage plays, including a praised part in a version of "Midsummer Night's Dream". Beside acting, she is skilled in dance and voice work, and can also be seen in music videos for artists such as Keith Richards.

Banks appeared in the television series General Hospital, Murphy Brown, and Cheers (starring Kirstie Alley and Kelsey Grammer), and played a recurring part in the short lived comedy series Top of the Heap (1991), which featured Leslie Jordan and Rod Arrants.

Among her feature film appearances are supporting parts in the two time Academy Award winning drama Bugsy (1991, with Bebe Neuwirth and Robert Beltran), the Academy Award nominated music drama The Mambo Kings (1992, with Jonathan Del Arco, Joycelyn O'Brien, and Susie Stillwell), Tim Burton's sequel Batman Returns (1992, with Vincent Schiavelli) in which she played Oscar "Penguin" Cobblepot's biggest supporter, filled in for the falling "Ice Princess", and served as stand-in for actress Michelle Pfeiffer, the action film Last Action Hero (1993, with F. Murray Abraham), and the thriller Color of Night (1994, starring Scott Bakula and Brad Dourif) in which she appeared on a photograph as the wife of Bruce Willis, as well as car stunt work in James Cameron's Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991).
