Marc Garneau

Marc Garneau was a Canadian astronaut from the 20th century. Garneau was involved in the NASA space shuttle program, flying on mission STS-41G.
In 2063, the mission insignia for STS-41G (which included information on Garneau) was displayed in a bar in Bozeman, Montana. (Star Trek: First Contact)

Marc Garneau was the first Canadian in space. He later served as Vice President of the Canadian Space Agency.
The novels Federation and The Fall of Terok Nor (both by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens) discussed a Federation starship named the USS Garneau. The latter novel stated that the Garneau is Akira-class.
