A methogenic particle is a type of particle.

One of the corridors aboard a disabled Malon freighter encountered by the USS Voyager in 2375 was filled with highly charged methogenic particles. A Voyager away team found that the scanning signals from their tricorders were causing an electrostatic cascade in the particles, igniting them. (VOY: "Juggernaut")
