Molor

From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference

A Klingon portraying the mythical figure of Molor, on Maranga IV

In Klingon traditional history, Molor was a hated tyrant who ruled Qo'noS approximately 1,500 years ago. Molor was said to be so strong that no man could oppose him, except one: Kahless the Unforgettable, who, together with the Lady Lukara, fought a pitched battle in the Great Hall of the city of Qam-Chee against the soldiers of Molor. While the rest of the city's garrison fled before Molor's 500 soldiers, Kahless and Lukara stood their ground and defeated the forces. Kahless killed Molor with a newly forged sword, which came to be known as the Sword of Kahless, and founded the Klingon Empire, becoming the greatest warrior in Klingon history. Molor's defeat is celebrated yearly with the observance of the Kot'baval Festival.

His death is a popular topic in Klingon drinking songs.

Some entrepreneurs on Maranga IV claim to have Molor's mummified head on display for a fee of fifty darseks per person. Their claim is unlikely to be true, however.

Such a claim, though, indicates that customers could believe it to be true and may be a reference to Klingon mummification.
In DS9: "Looking for par'Mach in All the Wrong Places" taking place in 2373, Worf enthusiastically mentions the events in Qam-Chee to have happened "a thousand years ago". However, this would state somewhat of a contradiction as TNG: "Rightful Heir" and TNG: "Firstborn" both state, that Molor, Lukara and Kahless lived 500 years earlier. Either Worf "rounded" the number of years in his enthusiasm, or Molor and Kahless were at least 500 years old, which would be an unrealistic figure, even for Klingons.
