Mordan system

The Mordan system was a non-aligned inhabited star system. By the mid-24th century, the government of Mordan IV had established diplomatic relations with the Federation.
In 2319, the USS Gettysburg, under Commander Mark Jameson, entered the system to negotiate the release of 63 hostages kidnapped from a starliner and held by Peretor Karnas, a tribal leader, on Mordan IV. Unknown to Starfleet, Commander Jameson gave weapons to the different sides involved in the war, after telling Karnas he was only going to arm his side.
In 2364, with the staff of the Federation embassy held captive by an unknown force (later identified as government troops), the USS Enterprise-D entered the system with Rear Admiral Jameson on board to negotiate their release. Although the mission proved successful with the hostages free, it did suffer one casualty when Admiral Jameson died. (TNG: "Too Short a Season")
