Neurolytic restraint

The neurolytic restraint is a device used by the Orion Syndicate to control slaves being auctioned. On command, the neurolytic restraint induces convulsive seizures in the wearer. If the restraint is removed or if the wearer leaves the area of restraint use, the restraint kills them. The installation of the device on the neck also causes extreme pain.

In 2154, nine personnel from the Enterprise were abducted by two Orion interceptors and brought to the processing station on Verex III. All the abducted Enterprise crewmembers were given neurolytic restraints. Captain Jonathan Archer was able to buy Ensign Jeffrey Pierce back and bribed an Orion to deactivate his neurolytic restraint but leave it attached. Back on the Enterprise, Doctor Phlox was able to study the restraint and find a way to disable all restraints, to save the other eight crewmembers. (ENT: "Borderland")
