An optronic weapons array was a type of advanced weapon system.
The array fires optronic pulses. The sentient starship Alice was equipped with an optronic weapons array operated by a neurogenic interface.
In 2376, Tom Paris, under the influence of Alice, stole a tactical data module from storage to fix the weapons array. While trying to take Alice back into the particle fountain, optronic pulses were fired to break free from Voyager's tractor beam. Two shots were sufficient to disrupt the tractor beam, while a third shot layed a decent hit against Voyager's shields. (VOY: "Alice")
The weapons fire was not seen in the episode. The Federation phaser cannon was stated to be an optronically targeted weapon in VOY: "Live Fast and Prosper"
