An optronic weapon is a type of directed energy weapon.

The sentient starship Alice was equipped with an optronic weapons array. In 2376, having taken control of Tom Paris through her neurogenic interface and left the USS Voyager, she influenced him to fire an optronic pulse to break free of Voyager's tractor beam. Two shots were sufficient to break away from the tractor beam, while a third shot seemed to lay a decent hit against Voyager's shields. (VOY: "Alice")
