The Orion scoutship was a type of scout starship utilized by the Orions during the mid-23rd century. These vessels had hulls composed of trititanium, were armed with standard phasers and could travel at warp 10 in combat.
In 2267, the USS Enterprise encountered an unknown vessel, later discovered to be an Orion scoutship, while en route to Babel. Due to either the vessels hi-density trititanium hull or a cloaking field, it was able to block the sensor probes of the Enterprise.
It was eventually defeated by the Enterprise in combat, with phasers, at a range of about 75,000 kilometers. The scout's crew chose to set their vessel to self-destruct rather than be captured. (TOS: "Journey to Babel")
