Padma Lakshmi (born 1 September 1970; age 39) is the actress who portrayed Kaitaama in the Star Trek: Enterprise episode "Precious Cargo".
Previously a model, Lakshmi has since gained mainstream notice from her marriage to author Salman Rushdie. She is the host of Padma's Passport on the American Food Network, stemming from the success of a cookbook she compiled and penned.
Her American film and television credits include roles in the movie Sharpe's Challenge and the ABC miniseries The Ten Commandments. She also began hosting the reality show Top Chef in its second season.
