Paradise City

Paradise City was the capital on the planet Nimbus III, established in 2267. Paradise City housed the representatives of the three governments in control of Nimbus III, the United Federation of Planets, the Romulan Star Empire and Klingon Empire.

By 2287, after the colony had long been deemed a failure, Paradise City became a near-lawless town of rogues. Sybok, and the Galactic Army of Light, captured Paradise City in an attempt to lure a starship from one of the three empires to use as a means to follow his quest for Sha Ka Ree. The name of the ill-starred settlement is one of many instances of the word "paradise" in Star Trek.

The exterior set for Paradise City was constructed at full-scale on the Owens dry lake bed in California. It remains one of the largest sets ever constructed for a Star Trek movie. Interiors were built on Stage 5 at Paramount Pictures.
