(written from a Production point of view)
Peipei "Peppa" Yuan is an actress, stuntwoman, dancer, and visual effects artist who served as stunt double for actress Freda Foh Shen in J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Trek. [1]
Yuan attended the Columbia University and graduated with a degree in visual arts in 1998. She is specialized in pre-visualization sequences and has provided her skills to the creation of films such as Panic Room (2002), 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), The Matrix Revolutions (2003), Van Helsing (2004), Constantine (2005), Bryan Singer's Superman Returns (2006), Spider-Man 3 (2007), and all three Pirates of the Caribbean films (2003, 2006, and 2007).
During her work on Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End she was inspired by the stunt performances on the set and with her background in martial arts (Wu Shu martial arts), competitive swimming, and competitive gymnastics, she studied stunts under the ReelKick Team, including Tim Storms and Fernando Chien. Yuan was featured in the Numb3ers episode Undercurrents (2006, with fellow Star Trek stuntwomen Lauren Kim and Jade Quon) and commercials for eBay and Farmer's Insurance (2007).
Beside her stunt work and visual effects skills, Yuan is a trained dancer, skilled in break dance, hip hop, salsa, jazz, and freestyle, also known as B-Girl in the dance scene. She performed with Pink on her 2003 Billboard Music Awards performance and was one of Gwen Stefani's Harajuku girls on her Harajuku Lovers Tour. In 2003 she has founded the organization B.A.D. (Breakers Against Drugs) and gives break dance lessons in the Electric Lodge, a dance Studio in Venice Beach.
Yuan has been featured in several magazines, television talk shows, concerts, and music videos and continues her career as a choreographer and dancer, stunt woman, and pre-visualization artist.
