Phillip Norwood was the visual effects animator on Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. He was also credited on issued design patents with being the "inventor" of the designs used in the film for the Klingon hand weapon (later identified as a d'k tahg) and the shoulder stock for it, and the co-inventor of the phaser used in the movie.
