- TrekMovie.com has confirmed that the Romulans are the main antagonists in the new film and that they will be led by Nero (played by Eric Bana) and his second-in-command, Ayel (played by Clifton Collins, Jr.). In addition, all Romulans in the film will be bald and they will not have the forehead ridges as seen in Star Trek: Enterprise or the 24th century-era shows. Also, it has been revealed that the Romulans' sinister plot involves not only time travel but also the destruction of a planet using some kind of "drilling rig." There will also be a fight scene between a sword-carrying Hikaru Sulu (played by John Cho) and a Romulan. [1]

- Neville Page, the lead creature & character designer on Star Trek, is currently working on the film Piranha 3-D, a remake of Joe Dante's 1978 cult classic. Page is designing the 3-D flesh-eating piranhas for the film, which is currently set for release on 24 July 2009. [2][3]

- The eBay auction for two tickets to the 2009 world premiere of Star Trek in Los Angeles ended today. The auction received a total of 46 bids; winning bid for the tickets was $7,600. [4]

- Karl Urban, the actor who played Dr. McCoy in the upcoming Star Trek film, will star in a $25 million 3-D action epic entitled Relentless, about four extreme sports professionals forced to survive in the Amazon jungle while being hunted by a group of homicidal natives. [5]

- Star Trek: Enterprise star Dominic Keating revealed in the May/June 2008 issue of Star Trek Magazine that he auditioned for the role of James T. Kirk's uncle. He did not win the role, however. [6]

- Actor Faran Tahir discussed Star Trek and his role in the film in an interview with Deadbolt.[7] In the meantime, TrekMovie.com has confirmed the name of Faran Tahir's character to be "Captain Robau" (not "Rabu" as Deadbolt would have you believe). [8]

- John Cho (the new Hikaru Sulu) and his wife, Kerri Higuchi, are expecting their first child together. Cho tells People Magazine that they are having a boy and that he is both excited and scared. [9]
