- The official US premiere of Star Trek will be held at the famed Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood on Thursday, 30 April 2009. Attending the event will be director and producer J.J. Abrams, most of the film crew, and nearly the entire cast. Fans are encouraged to come and greet the cast and crew as they walk the blue carpet. [1]

- Star Trek was given a surprise premiere at the Alamo Draughthouse Theater in Austin, Texas on Monday night. The event was promoted as a ten-minute preview of the new movie along with a screening of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Instead, the audience of 200 were shown the new movie in its entirety. This screening occurred hours before the gala premiere event in Sydney, Australia. Attending the event was producer Damon Lindelof, writers/executive producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, and, in a surprise appearance, Leonard Nimoy. Reviews of the film have thus far been extremely positive. [2]
- The gala world premiere of Star Trek began at the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia. Director/producer J.J. Abrams and cast members Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, and Eric Bana were on hand to answer fan questions before the screening of the film.

- Star Trek has been rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America for "Sci-fi action and violence and brief sexual content." [3] It is the third Star Trek film to receive this rating, after Star Trek: First Contact and Star Trek Nemesis. All other films are rated PG (Star Trek: The Motion Picture was rated G in it's original theatrical release).

- Star Trek will not be released for over a month, but Paramount Pictures is already moving forward with a sequel. A story is currently being developed, and the script will be written by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman, and Damon Lindelof, who will also be producing. J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk have also signed on to produce the picture, but there is no word on whether or not Abrams will return as director. The writers are aiming to turn in the script by Christmas for a possible Summer 2011 release. [4]

- A new television spot for the film premiered this week, and is available for download in HD at TrekMovie.com. In addition, it has been announced that the film's soundtrack, featuring music by Michael Giacchino, will be released by Varèse Sarabande Records on 5 May 2009. The soundtrack is currently available for pre-order for $17.98 at Amazon.com.
