- Superhero Movie, the new comedy film starring TNG's Brent Spiner, opens in theaters today. Spiner plays a scientist responsible for developing a genetically-altered dragonflies, one of which turns high school loser Rick Riker (no relation to Will) into a superhuman crime-fighter called "The Dragonfly." Playing the villain, Lou Landers aka "The Hourglass," is TNG guest-star Christopher McDonald. VOY guest actor Robert Joy also stars. For more information, see the official site.

- Profiles in History is holding a two-day auction of Hollywood Memorabilia starting today. As usual, the auction contains items from many different films and television shows, including Star Trek. This auction contains 43 Trek-related items. The entire PIH Hollywood Auction #31 catalog can be viewed (and bid on) at eBay Live.
- Star Trek: First Contact actor and TNG/DS9/ENT guest star James Cromwell has been cast as George Herbert Walker Bush in Oliver Stone's biographical drama on George W. Bush entitled W. The film is expected to be ready for distribution possibly by November 2008 but certainly before Bush leaves the White House in January 2009. [1]

- Although CBS Paramount Network Television has canceled its HD DVD releases, the company has announced their intentions to release the second season of remastered TOS episodes on regular DVD. The DVD set is slated for release 5 August 2008. [2]

- It has been revealed that the construction worker who committed suicide on actor-director Mel Gibson's property was Star Trek Nemesis construction foreman Michael Van Dyke. According to TMZ.com, people who worked with Van Dyke on the set of Nemesis said he was "in desperate financial shape." Van Dyke was 48 years old. [3]
