Portland was the town on Earth where Benjamin Sisko's sister, Judith, resided. (DS9: "Past Tense, Part I")

In 2372, Joseph Sisko told Judith to return home to Portland, as he felt he did not need her to help in the family restaurant. (DS9: "Homefront")

Although the writers presumably intended this to be Portland, Oregon, the script never gave the location of Portland. The USS Portland was named after the cities in Maine and Oregon.
