Ramart

Captain Ramart was 23rd century Starfleet officer, commanding the small Federation science-probe vessel Antares. In 2266, the ship visited the planet Thasus, discovering there a boy, Charles Evans, who had been marooned there for over a decade. The Antares transfered Evans to the USS Enterprise, so that he might be reunited with relatives living on Colony 5.

At extreme range, Ramart signaled the Enterprise. His message got as far as "I've got to warn..." before communication was lost. A scan by Spock revealed that the Antares had exploded. It was later revealed that Evans used his psionic powers to remove a baffle plate, a vital part from the ship's energy pile. The Thasians, who granted Evans his powers to ensure his survival in a hostile environment, were able to reverse most of what he had done, but they could not restore the ill-fated crew of the Antares.
