Ranger 3

Ranger 3 was a United States space probe in the 20th century, a Ranger spacecraft of the Ranger block 2 type design, launched in 1962. The probe achieved marginal success, giving knowledge of spaceflight course settings to engineers, despite missing an intended trajectory towards Earth's moon, Luna.
A diagram depicting this spacecraft was stored in the USS Enterprise's library computer in 2254, and was among the materials viewed by the Talosians when they scanned the Enterprise computer. Among the equipment noted on the diagram were radio antennae, including a high-gain transmitter antenna; the lunar capsule and mid-course motor, retro-rockets, solar energy panels, a RADAR altimeter and gamma ray spectrometer.
