The refractive shield is a technology that prevents a vessel from being detected on long-range sensors. Devore warships are equipped with refractive shields.

In 2375, Devore Inspector Kashyk shared the technology with the USS Voyager as part of a ruse to locate a wormhole used by telepathic refugees to flee their space. Captain Kathryn Janeway equipped two Voyager shuttlecraft with refractive shielding, allowing a number of Brenari to escape capture. (VOY: "Counterpoint")
