At least one Academy cadet was assigned to Regula I during Nero's attack on Vulcan in 2258. (Star Trek)

The Cadet's name was heard during the assignments, but it was nearly inaudible.

Chef

The chef was killed by Khan Noonien Singh when Khan discovered that the Genesis Device and related data were gone. According to Pavel Chekov, Khan tortured the remaining crew, including the chef, but no one would reveal to Khan what he sought. As a result, Khan went wild, strung the remaining crew up and slit their throats.

Following the arrival of the USS Enterprise to Regula, the chef, as well as the other crew were discovered when Leonard McCoy unexpectedly walked into the chef's dangling arm.

After the murdered crew were cut down, McCoy stated that were not warm, but noted that rigor hadn't set in. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)

The Chef was portrayed by stunt performer Eddie Donno. He is identified in the script in more detail as the "cook" (in script notes) and in a cut line spoken by Admiral Kirk, where he was stunned that "they even killed the galley chief." In the novelization, he is given the name "Yoshi". Donno's costume, which described the character as "chef", sold in the It's A Wrap! sale and auction. [1]
