Romulan Guard

The Romulan Guard was the military branch of the Romulan Star Empire. (TNG: "Unification II")

Members of the Guard train at the Imperial War College alongside members of the Tal Shiar, the separate intelligence agency of the Romulan government. (TNG: "Face of the Enemy")

Commander Konsab, a military history instructor at the Romulan Intelligence Academy, held as his main theme the difference between the Romulan military and the Tal Shiar. He believed the necessity of military personnel to trust one another contrasted with the Tal Shiar's tendency to distrust their associates. (TNG: "Face of the Enemy")

Despite the fact that the Guard has been seen in all five series and Star Trek Nemesis, it was only referenced by name once, by Proconsul Neral in TNG: "Unification II". All other references are to "the military" in general.
