The SD-103 type was the class of shuttlecraft to which the shuttle SD-103 belonged. Used by Starfleet and the Federation in the 23rd and 24th centuries, this shuttle was known to be used for orbital personnel transport.

SD-103 was in use by the Federation in 2293, but a later shuttle of this type was in Starfleet use, assigned to the USS Farragut. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country; Star Trek Generations)

The purpose of the SD-103 shuttle was specified in the script of Star Trek VI, its first appearance. During the interim between those productions, the model was altered to appear as the Sydney-class on TNG and DS9.
