Sandy Fries

Sandy Fries is a television writer who wrote the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Coming of Age" in 1988. He also served as story editor on The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, and on the video games Star Trek: Borg, Star Trek: Secret of Vulcan Fury, and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.
Fries was born in New York City and earned a B.A. in journalism from the Clarke University. He also received a M.S. from the Columbia University, where he was awarded with a NBC fellowship.
Fries moved to California and joined the writer's staff for The Next Generation, as well as several other television series such as Fame(1984), Quantum Leap (1990, starring Scott Bakula and Dean Stockwell), The Smurfs (1981), Thundercats (1985), Superboy (1988), and Spider-man (1996). He made deals with Warner Brothers and Dick Clark productions, served as freelance writer for the L.A. Times and as travel and food writer on My Table Magazine.
Fries is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, a former chairman of the Writer's Guild of America Future of Television Seminar, served as judge for the Emmy Awards, and even received an Emmy Award nomination for television writing. He also received a special commendation from the former mayor of Los Angeles for public service television writing. Currently he is writing a book.
