Sato

You may be looking for Enterprise crewmember Hoshi Sato.

Mr. Sato was a human of Japanese decent, and father to Earth Starfleet officer and language specialist Hoshi Sato.

In 2152, while trapped in the pattern buffer of Enterprises transporter, Hoshi had an elaborate day-dream where the crew believed she had died. Captain Archer had to contact her father, and tell him the news, but couldn't put it into words the right way. When her father did understand, he told Archer to contact him again later, so he could speak to his wife. (ENT: "Vanishing Point")

Although his image was part of a dream, it was Hoshi's dream, so presumably he appeared as he would have appeared had he been real.

Mr. Sato was played by Keone Young, who had previously played Buck Bokai in DS9: "If Wishes Were Horses".
