Scalloped potatoes is a potato dish that was baked in a casserole with milk and bread crumbs.

The newly wed Miles O'Brien, who found his new wife, Keiko's, Japanese breakfast cuisine somewhat unappealing, offered to make her an Irish meal, which consisted of scalloped potatoes, mutton shanks, oxtails and cabbage. In turn, Keiko thought such a meal sounded somewhat unappealing, referring to it as sounding "kind of heavy." Nevertheless, Miles promised her that she would love it. (TNG: "The Wounded")
