Scott Tipton is a comic book writer and comic historian. He has worked primarily for IDW Publishing, working on a number of their Angel titles, including several with David Messina. He has also worked on a few of the Spike titles for the same company. He, along with his brother David, wrote the Klingons: Blood Will Tell mini-series, as well as several entries in the Star Trek: Alien Spotlight series, and the mini-series Intelligence Gathering, Star Trek: Mirror Images, and Spock: Reflections.

Born in northern California, Scott is a comic book historian and provides weekly essays about the history of the industry on his "Comics 101" webpage. When asked how he and his brother divide writing duties, they responded by saying "Scott writes the nouns and David writes the verbs, and for everything else they flip a coin." (Intelligence Gathering: "Valued Intelligence")
