Shallot

A shallot was plant native to the planet Earth. Shallots were members of the onion genus, and tasted a bit like an onion but with a sweeter, milder flavor.
Shallots were used in a sauce – along with mustard, capers and onions – served with shrimp remoulade at Sisko's Creole Kitchen when Jake and Benjamin Sisko visited in 2372. (DS9: "Paradise Lost")
