Sheliak Corporate

The Sheliak Corporate is the governing body of the Sheliak. In 2255 there was a brief skirmish between the Sheliak Corporate and the United Federation of Planets. Eventually, a peace treaty was established. The Sheliak value precision highly, and are known for creating long and complicated treaties. The Federation had to send for many experts to negotiate and prepare the treaty.

Over a century later, a dispute broke out between the Federation and the Sheliak over Federation colonists on Tau Cygna V, a planet in the Sheliak sphere of influence. Lt. Cmdr. Data played the lead role in trying to convince the colonists to evacuate the planet before Sheliak colonists arrived. (TNG: "The Ensigns of Command")
