A signal relay was a component of a toroidal antenna, a communications device located on the outside of a Federation class 2 shuttle.

In 2373, Lieutenant Tuvok asked Neelix to check if the signal relays had been damaged, after their shuttle crash-landed on a Nezu colony planet. (VOY: "Rise")
