Slade Bender was a character in one of the Dixon Hill holographic novels. He was a mobster employed by a man who hired Dixon Hill to find his missing girlfriend. When Bender's employer was later indicted for his girlfriend's murder, Bender went to Hill's office twice attempting to kill him, first with a handgun, then with a Thompson submachine gun. (TNG: "Manhunt")
