Starbase Earhart

Starbase Earhart (also known as Farspace Station Earhart) was a Federation starbase. In 2327, newly-graduated Ensigns Jean-Luc Picard, Cortin Zweller, and Marta Batanides spent several days at the starbase awaiting transfer to their first deep space assignments. It was during this time that Picard picked a fight with some Nausicaans at the Bonestell Recreation Facility and was stabbed through the heart by a Nausicaan sword. The wound was nearly fatal, despite Picard's initial reaction which was to laugh at the situation, and ultimately required him to receive an implant of an artificial heart. (TNG: "Tapestry")

• The computer voice of Starbase Earhart was provided by Majel Barrett.
• Taking into account the view from Ensign Picard's room, we might assume that Starbase Earhart is, at least partly, located on a planetary surface; unless the "windows" are digital displays.
• Starbase Earhart was named after Amelia Earhart. (Star Trek Encyclopedia)
• In TNG: "Samaritan Snare", Picard referred to it as "Farspace Station Earhart".
