Starfleet Emergency Medical Course

The Starfleet Emergency Medical Course is a supplementary medical class designed to teach non-medical Starfleet officers basic medical skills for use in an emergency.

In 2368, Lieutenant Worf revealed he had delivered a Human baby in a holodeck simulation, during his Emergency Medical Course. He noted that the course was "very orderly." It enabled him to successfully deliver the O'Brien's baby when the USS Enterprise-D hit a quantum filament and was severely damaged, sealing off several decks. (TNG: "Disaster")
