The Starfleet Technical Database is a series of articles written by Rick Sternbach for publication in Star Trek: The Magazine. They are written in a style consistent with the Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual, and provide very detailed information of varying subjects. They were illustrated by Tim Earls.
The articles have a disclaimer which conveniently reads: "..data may be altered by Starfleet Intelligence in order to confound or confuse agents of Threat Forces."
