Stephen Yoakam played Velal in two episodes of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's final season. He played the Romulan Subcommander/General in "When It Rains..." and "The Dogs of War."
In 1988, he starred in the television movie Shattered Innocence with Dennis Howard and Richard Cox.
A decade later, in 1998, he played a SWAT team leader in Overnight Delivery. Sarah Silverman, Larry Drake and Bruce Bohne also starred. Yoakam also starred in the 2005 film Sweet Land with fellow DS9 guest star Tony Papenfuss, as well as with TNG guest star Raye Birk. In 2008, he will star in the film Older Than America.
Yoakam is also well known for narrating productions of Peer Gynt with the Minnesota Orchestra. He has also starred in the stage plays Tamarack and Good Boys.
