Sturgeon

Crewman Sturgeon served in the sciences division aboard the USS Enterprise under Captain James T. Kirk during the mid-2260s.

In 2266, Sturgeon was among the second landing party to beam down to the surface of planet M-113. Sturgeon transported a sample of the Borgia plant up to Spock for analysis but was killed shortly thereafter, when his body salts were devoured by the M-113 creature. (TOS: "The Man Trap")

Sturgeon was played by John Arndt. According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, he was named for Theodore Sturgeon, writer of the episodes "Shore Leave" and "Amok Time".
