Syrup of squill.
Syrup of squill is a sweet red-hued liquid popularly used on breakfast foods, such as groatcakes. It is made from the squill plant, native to the planet Balancar. In 2373, the Agricultural Consortium on Balancar plotted to drive up prices of squill by claiming there was a drought and halting exports. A year later, Quark discovered the agricultural agency's scheme and threatened to expose them unless he were provided with a shipment of squill. He later served the squill on Deep Space 9 and made a substantial profit. (DS9: "The Magnificent Ferengi")

A female Klingon brought a bottle of syrup of squill to Morn's wake later that year. (DS9: "Who Mourns for Morn?")

In the real world, "Squill liquid extract" (an alcoholic preparation derived from a flowering plant native to Europe, Asia, and Africa) is an ingredient used in cough medicines. It is not known whether the writers adapted the name as an intentional gag, or if it was used by coincidence.
