In early 2270, USS Enterprise was nearing the end of its last year of its fourth five-year mission of exploration, under the command of Captain James Kirk.
[edit] Background information
In 1973, after the initial contract for Star Trek: The Animated Series had run out, NBC ordered another 6 episodes to be made for the following year. These were the last animated episodes made, making a total of 22. They first aired in September and October of 1974, but NBC continued airing the series in re-runs through 1975.
