A tactical analysis is an assessment report of the combat related strengths, weaknesses and overall capabilities of an opposing entity. Starship captains may order a short tactical analysis report of an enemy vessel to help make a quick determination of the available options in a critical situation.

In 2379, Captain Jean-Luc Picard ordered Lieutenant Commander Worf to perform a tactical analysis of the Reman warbird Scimitar when the USS Enterprise-E was in orbit of the planet Romulus. (Star Trek Nemesis)
