In the conversation that Archer has with T'Pol in which the year 2061 is mentioned, Archer is interrupted mid-sentence. Since Archer does not finish that particular sentence, it is pure conjecture to assume that he was going to say that 'fossil fuels were going to be replaced by cleaner energy sources'. It is just as possible that he was going to say that 2061 was the year Earth finally depleted the last of its fossil fuel reserves. -<unsigned>
[edit] Zefram Cochrane
- First successful demonstration of lightspeed propulsion by Zefram Cochrane. (ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II")
Okay, this entry is extremely nitpicky. For one, this cannot be the first test of a warp engine by Cochrane, as that was established to be in the year 2063 in VOY: "Friendship One" episode dialogue, and no series dialogue, no reference work has ever established or even hinted that Zefram Cochrane invented another "non-warp lightspeed" engine type. Plus we know the screen this information comes from uses information mostly copypasted from an early edition of the Star Trek Chronology, where this year was conjectured for the first warp flight. For those reasons it is extremely nitpicky and unencyclopedic to claim Zefram Cochrane had demonstrated lightspeed propulsion at this date.
In my opinion, even though this is canon, it should be treated as a production mistake by MA and only noted in the 2063 entry in italics with: A computer screen in ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II" mistakenly noted the first successful demonstration of lightspeed propulsion by Zefram Cochrane to have occured in 2061. --Pseudohuman 06:27, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- I would say that in the mirror universe it may be correct. If the screenshot wasn't from the Defiant but from the Enterprise in that universe...I'll have to check the episode to see it though. Otherwise I agree with you. --Morder 06:32, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
It was from the Defiant-database. mirror-Archer was viewing in the captain's quarters. --Pseudohuman 06:38, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- There ya go. I would then classify this as a production error. --Morder 06:40, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- Fellows, 2063 was the first manned flight. 2061 was a demonstration. --TribbleFurSuit 17:48, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
