Talk:Byte

From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference

[edit] pna

This page lists all kinds of "byte" prefixes, and needs to be trimmed down just to those mentioned in dialogue. Others should be clearly confined to background italics. Also, XB being listed "unknown" in-universe isn't right, I'm sure they know how much it is. XB never being specifically stated to mean "bytes", I'm surprised its primary location is on this page but "XB" doesn't exist even as a redirect. - AJ Halliwell 18:59, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

XB could refer to a xonabyte which equals 1 octillion bytes as the prefix xona- is included in the extended si prefix table locates here: http://jimvb.home.mindspring.com/unitsystem.htm and has the symbol X. --Bonez565
Or it could be just made up for the show without any real-world equivalent...can't speculate unless it was stated in the show — Morder 08:37, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
It does make sense the shown uses the other common prefixes and the amount makes sense because the data deleted encompassed all data collected on the spheres. --Bonez565 08:43, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
