Talk:Calculation device

From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference

Does anyone recall other uses of this device, or a hint of its functions? --Aurelius Kirk 13:02, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

  • The only other appearance of the device I can remember is in "Spock's Brain" as the remote control. It has only been repainted slightly for the second appearance as the calculation device. --Jörg 13:21, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
I thought I saw it somewhere else. Thanks for the pick-up! --Aurelius Kirk 14:49, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
The cardboard device
There's another very old-fashioned and strange calculation device that Spock is seen using in the early season 1 episodes ("Mudd's Women" and a similar device in "The Naked Time", Lemli uses it in "The Corbomite Maneuver"). I've got no idea how to call it or where to put, I'll upload a screenshot from "Mudd's Women" and put it here for the moment. --Jörg 16:11, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
It can be seen even more clearly in "Who Mourns for Adonais?", so I replaced the image with a screenshot from that episode.--Jörg 16:28, 10 February 2006 (UTC)
Apparently it is an E6B flight computer. --GNDN 01:49, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Ah, cool! One riddle finally solved. Now, what was Spock doing with the thing on the bridge? Not trusting the computer? ;-) --Jörg 08:36, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
