Talk:Caviar
From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference
[edit] Still not completely vegan
One premise that is sort of a "given" in TNG-era trek is that humans no longer enslave and/or kill animals for food. While never explicit, the suggestion is that the majority of humans of 24th century Earth - or at the very least, those in Starfleet - are vegans, and all animal products they consume are replicated. This would likely also include egg and dairy products, or anything else that is a byproduct of animals. Picard having possession of real caviar, therefore, seems like a bit of an incongruity. Would this be worth mentioning somewhere, or am I just being nitpicky? - Ugliness Man 01:44, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
- To quote a line between two Humans in 2373:
- FRAZIER: We grow all our own food in the co-operative garden.
- CHAKOTAY: It's delicious.
- FRAZIER: Sorry there's no meat.
- CHAKOTAY: No problem. I'm a vegetarian.
- FRAZIER: Really? I have reoccurring dreams about my mother's famous Texas barbeque. So, your journey home, how much longer do you expect it will take you?
- Ah, the future can be wild.--Tim Thomason 03:24, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
