Talk:Dixon Hill

From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference

Has any TNG writer or producer ever confirmed that Dixon Hill was based on Sam Spade? Some elements, like the secretary flirtation seem to suggest Spade; but other elements suggest different archetypes. An obvious example would be Chandler's Marlowe (The Big Goodbye seems a clear play on The Long Goodbye).

I've just seen "The Maltese Falcon" for the first time and I've also noticed that some scenes seemed familiar with Dixon Hill. It may have been one of the archetypes used for the creation of the character. - Philoust123 13:43, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
He was fashioned after Dixon Steele in In a Lonely Place, at least directly. Obviously pieced together with other elements as well. Either way, I have found no sources stating Sam Spade. --Alan del Beccio 02:33, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
