Talk:Federation starbases

From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference

I removed a link to Starbase 714 - no other article on MA links to that page, and I couldn't find any references on the web. If that base really was mentioned somewhere, feel free to add it here again, but please include a reference on the article page. -- Cid Highwind 11:30, 20 Feb 2005 (GMT)

Seems strange that some starbasesare numbered and other are names. I would guess, but I need proof, that each one has a number and a name, but common use tend to prefer the name for some (for instance if the name is that of the planet the starbase orbits, and the planet is well-known) and the number for other. Is there any starbase that was refered canonically by both a name and a number? --rami

The only one I can think of right off would be DS9, but that probably doesn't really count as it actually has two designations. Deep Space 9 as a Federation installation, Terok Nor as a Cardassian mining outpost. --Jadza 03:57, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Can we get one of those bars on the bottom of the starbase pages the way we do on the years, so that they can be scrolled through? I'm not sure how to go about it myself. Jaf 21:53, 11 April 2006 (UTC)Jaf

Here's my question... Starbase numbers... do they apply ordinally, or are the numbers simply chosen as a designation, like the numbers assigned to military divisions ? For example, is Starbase 34 really the 34th commissioned Starbase or is it simply a designation number ? --Jadza 03:57, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
