[edit] DS9???
Is her being categorized under DS9 performers a flagrant error or a very minor cameo I wasn't aware of? I don't recall her ever being on there unless it was a computer voice somewhere. --Broik 11:07, 13 Dec 2005 (UTC)
- Archive footage of her playing Uhura was used in the DS9 episode "Trials and Tribble-ations". Although Nichols, herself, did not appear for any new footage, she appeared in the footage, and it should therefore count as an appearance -- just as long as it is made clear that was from archive footage and not a new appearance. [edit] Not First Nonstereotypical African American Actress in Continuing Role on American TV
For fear that my edit would get reversed, I've decided to post here first to see what the admins think. My research shows that Cicely Tyson was actually the very first African American actress to portray a nonstereotypical role in a series--a show called "East Side/West Side" during the 1963-64 television season. So, really we should change Nichelle's biography to read "one of the first" African American actreesses in a nonsterotypical continuing role on an American television series, or words to that effect.Sir Rhosis 04:01, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think that should be much of a problem. Tyson played a secretary on the series, which to my knowledge is not considered a stereotypical African-American role for. --From Andoria with Love 21:22, 28 April 2006 (UTC)
