Talk:Pulsed phase cannon

Was the NX-01 also fitted with this technology prior to leaving for the Delphic Expanse? -- SmokeDetector47 04:56, 12 Feb 2005 (GMT)
- As I recall that was after they destroyed the Xindi weapon. -- Q 10:15, 20 Mar 2005 (EST)
- The term was first used in ENT: "Home" and, as far as canon goes, the weapon was only installed aboard the Columbia (NX-02). Its function was never specified nor was it ever seen in use... nor was it ever mentioned again. --From Andoria with Love 06:14, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
When the Columbia was seen firing its cannons in "Divergence" (ENT), the energy beam was streamed like that of the previous cannon, suggestimg that pulsed phase cannons simply fired a more powerful beam of energy than its predecessors. or perhaps the cannon ramped between a high energy state and a lower energy state in rapid succession creating the illusion of a single beam. we know that normal phase cannons were pretty weak as orginally built. we also know that pumping overload levels of energy will make them very powerful. but that method also causes some pretty nasty feedback. but if the energy is only fed through in short 'bursts' the feedback might not be as bad, while retaining much of the same results. not unlike how some industrial lasers cycle through millisecond pulses to conserve energy. just speculation of course. - Mithril 07:08, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
