Talk:Silicon-based lifeform
From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference
This needs to be moved, but i'm not sure if it should be Silicon-based lifeform or Silicon-based life. Jaf 13:38, 24 Sep 2005 (UTC)Jaf
[edit] Bases for Statements
- Why is the Excalbian identified as a silicon life form? The episode doesn't say it as far as I know.
- Why is the Crystalline Entity identified as a silicon life form? And don't say "Silicon Avatar" as the word "silicon" is not used in the episode itself.
- Why is there a statement that silicon life is "not possible" to evolve in an oxygen atmosphere? I suspect the claim is based on "The Devil in the Dark" where McCoy says before the Horta is found: "Silicon-based life is physiologically impossible, especially in an oxygen atmosphere." However, as he was wrong about the impossibility of such life, I question whether his statement about an oxygen atmosphere should be presumed to be conclusive in the way stated.
Beyond that, the article needs a little work to be clearer as to who thought things (Federation science) and when. But first things first, and I thought I'd start by asking the above. Aholland 19:00, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Oxygen
This artical says they can't evolve in oxygen. Does that mean that captain archer was, for lack of a better word, bullshitting Tucker? --Jacen Solo 04:38, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
