Just watched this episode and found the concept of "tin man" fascinating! To think of a lifeform 'swimming' through space without the cover of a ship or external convering with which to protect itself...and to make it even more interesting it has the mystery associated with being ancient, thousands of years old. The fact that its technology is far supreme to any encountered (with exception of the Q) complements its aura of mystery perfectly! Great stuff.

[edit] Orders to Captain Picard

As suggested by Airtram3 I took a closer look at the orders Picard receives at the beginning of the episode. Of the main part of the text, I cacnot make out a single word. Above that, we can find stuff like:

To: Captain Jean Luc Picard

USS Enterprise NCC 1701-D

From: Admiral...

Stardate: ...

At the very top, there's "LCARS 40273" (three for a season 3 episode)

What I find most interesting at the moment is the text underneath the star map on the secons screenshot. It reads "Vega Nine probe" something. We have listed the probe at Vega IX, according ot the script it is Vega Nine, and now also according to visual evidence from the actual episode, so I guess this means we'll move the page to Vega Nine probe, right? --Jörg 16:56, 2 March 2007 (UTC)
